Ralph (Bo) Palmer - Deceased

RALPH “BO” PALMER
DIED OCTOBER 12, 2009

1933 - 2009

I found some of these e-mail addresses by my dad’s computer yesterday. Dad died sometime between 6 and 8 am yesterday. He had just started taking Chemo for lung cancer and we thought he would beat it or at least survive another couple of years, his death was unexpected but we are sure he is in the land of happy fishing as this is all he did and loved. I do not have all the e-mails for his comrades in the 7406 so if someone could spread the word or put it on the web site of the 7406 we would appreciate it. Bo was looking forward to having the conference in Tampa next year and Ralph 3rd and I were going to assist. All I can say is he loved you all and lived for the reunion every year. Some of you have met Ralphie (Son) at the reunions, his cell number is 239-994-0129, mine (Edward, Son) is 239-633-3523

Thank you all for being my dad’s friend

Bo was born January 11, 1933 in Hazelton, Pa. and grew up in Hampton Va. After graduating from Hampton High School he immediately joined the United States Air Force. Bo served two tours of duty in Vietnam, a tour in Cam Rahn Bay and another in Tan Son Nhut and retired as a Master Sgt. in 1972. Shortly there after; Bo started his second career and worked for 15 years for the Campbell Soup Company in Camden N.J. Bo enjoyed being on the Rhein-Main A.F.B. all star bowling team as he was able to travel through out Europe bowling against other Military Installations.

Bo also enjoyed the annual reunion of the 7406 Support Squadron, to honor the aircrew of 60528 “his” plane a C-130 Spooky which was shot down by the Russians over Armenia on September 2, 1958 when Bo and his crew were stationed in Incirlik Air Base in Turkey.

Bo is survived by his children Ralph 3rd, Larry, Eddie, and daughter Mary.

Memorial services are being conducted by VFW Post 7987 New Port Richey at the Dobies Funeral home 4910 Bartlet Road Holiday, FL. on Sunday October 18, 2009 at 2 pm. Bo’s final resting place will be the Florida National Cemetery for Veterans in Bushnell, Florida
